OCR: DATASTREAM CONFIDENTIAL 4183KL04 Roark Davis, in his arrogance, has demanded that the Network increase our payments to his accounts to keep the Corwin transmission. Without immediate payment, Roark has threatened to stop sending us the signal. At this stage we cannot afford to lose the Corwin transmission. Our ratings have increased dramatically, and the Dingman compile is finally getting closer to Flux. For the time being, we will meet Roark's outrageous demands. Roark, although a man of aparently bad judgement, is quite cunning. We have discovered that he is in contact with World Perfect, and is possibly working for them in some capacity. We suspect that he may be trying to use the Network for some clandestine plot. This is not acceptable. If Roark chooses to stumble down that path, he will not be leaving on his own feet. One does not hurt the Network without feeling our pain. Today we will pay and watch. Tomorrow, Roark will not be so successful with his demands. Money is being deposited into his secret accounts. While the Network plays his game, we are attempting to trace all of Roark's resources and catalog his inverse capital. Surveillance is being considered. His future usefullness to us is being evaluated, as is the future importance of the Corwin transmission. If he chooses to make us an enemy, Roark will eventually tire of the complex game that he is playing and he will lose. The Network never tires. The Network cannot lose.
